You should consult a physician to find out the exact risks. I had the gastric bypass done on october 28th 2009 and have already lost 110 pounds. These results are not typical. I don't have diabetes anymore. I attend a support group once a month that is for both gastric bypass and the lap band and both surgeries seem to work. The gastric bypass patients are ussualy the more severely obese patients and or patients with diabetes and other complications of obesity.

I was wondering which one is safer and better, this one or the lap band?

to prevent reflux of bile acid and HCl (yellow) and as a consequence to prevent gastritis they make an anastomose (place where blue and yellow come together) 50 cm distal to the left-over stomach.
